Mark it good London Opens Bike “Superhighways” via GOOD

As seen on GOOD

This has to be one of the best things to happen in a major western metropolis since indoor plumbing and trash collection!

Hope NYC sees the light and does the same here!

"Play Me I’m Yours" via Kitsune Noir

Music brings people together, as evidenced by the recent passing of Michael Jackson and the global mourning of a musician that despite his own personal battles was able to reach the world with his music.

In the spirit of music bringing people together, I just read this story on the Kitsune Noir blog. “Play Me I’m Yours" is apparently a music/social experiement started by Luke Jerram "who takes pianos and puts them into busy, cultural areas across the world."

The idea alone is sheer genius but the fact that someone actually took the time and energy to actually DO it really inspires.  According Kitsune Noir, folks took to the idea so much that in places like Sao Paolo, people traveled from far and wide just to get a chance to play on a piano.

Needless to say projects like this deserve much more attention and people like Luke deserve more praise, though judging by this idea, praise is the last thing on his mind.

IOC: Approved!  Thanks Luke…

newsweek:

fastcompany:

Plunge, a project from artist Michael Pinsky, features blue LED lights placed around prominent central London monuments, with each light marking the sea level 1,000 years from now (92 feet above sea level using a “business as usual” scenario). Remember: this kind of rapid sea-level rise could happen sooner. We just don’t know.

Ah! This combines two things we really love: LED lights and our doom.

During my spare time I always wander with a camera in my backapck. Just in case something unusual happens or there is THE scene of the century to capture just there in front of me.
At the moment Southbank (London) is undergoing major work - consequently there is a diversion for all pedestrians. In order to help visitors/tourists it is all sign posted. So, no problem to find the right path.
I was lucky enough to go that way when a flower delivery courier (on a bike) asked me the right direction for a specific address. Being from that area, no problem whatsoever.
As turned around, I saw this striking wall similar to the famous Paul Smith stripes.
I had to press the shutter rapidly in order to avoid cars, buses…etc driving past.
